An iconic figure in Guinean football, Naby Keïta continues to demonstrate his commitment to his community. Known for his prowess on the pitch and his generosity towards the poorest, the Syli National captain was recently named an ambassador for UNICEF Guinea. This partnership marks a new milestone in his fight for children’s rights and well-being.
This Friday, November 22, 2024, the former Liverpool player visited the Taouyah School for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Conakry. Accompanied by UNICEF representatives, he was welcomed by staff at the school, which has 64 visually impaired students.
Facing the children and their supervisors, a visibly moved Naby Keïta shared a speech filled with compassion and determination:

” Children, if I am here today, it is to support you and help you get a good education. I am Guinean, I know the realities here, especially for you who are in this situation. With UNICEF, we have many projects for you, and we are ready to support you. Education is the basis of everything. I have tears in my eyes seeing you in this condition that you did not choose, but I am happy to be able, even for a moment, to bring a smile to your faces.” , reacted the UNICEF Guinea champion.

This visit was marked not only by words, but also by symbolic gestures. A small impromptu soccer match allowed the children to share a unique moment with their idol. Touching, greeting, and interacting with Naby Keïta was a dream come true for these young students.
For Jean Bobo Kamano, director of the Cité de Solidarité school for the visually impaired, this visit is a source of pride and hope:
” We are happy in more ways than one. Having Naby Keïta in our school is a great joy and a source of pride for us. Naby Keïta represents everything to sport. We sincerely thank him for coming to us. We hope he will continue to support us and our school in all areas, particularly in the sports field.”

Through this initiative, UNICEF and Naby Keïta reaffirm their commitment to Guinean children, particularly those in vulnerable situations. The duo aims to ensure these young people have access to education, essential skills, and a safe and inclusive environment.
With actions like this, Naby Keïta proves that he is much more than an athlete: a true model of solidarity and hope for Guinean youth.
